It’s Been A Wild Ride!

In February of 2020, it was all about to fall in place. I did everything to start a small business. I had studied my craft, secured financing, researched all the equipment needed and was about to sign a lease.

My husband and I just returned from Italy where true artisans taught me how to use high-end ingredients in milk and cream and how they are superior to the bulk ingredients and flavorings commonly found in ice cream today. In fact, we were lucky to survive an illness from our trip that turned out to be early cases of the Coronavirus that would quickly decimate villages and cities we visited.

After we returned to Worcester, the shutdown was announced and I felt deflated. “If not now, when?”, I thought. When will I finally put all this effort to work? Well, I found a way.

My first pieces of equipment were purchased from money saved for the lease. A farmer in Dunstable let me rent space in his ice cream production kitchen a couple days a week. He incubated my business and taught me the practical side of production.

My first sale was at the Shrewsbury Farmers Market on 7/8/20 and then I started year round curbside sales at the Sprinkler Factory for three hours a week. People found me. And they became loyal customers.

In 2021, I moved production to the kitchen at WooTrucks in Boylston and purchased bigger equipment. There were more farmers markets, food truck festivals and private events. Business kept growing at my Tatnuck Square retail store in Worcester.

The next big step is almost complete. My own ice cream production kitchen has been built in the old MJ Whitall Mill complex at 3 Brussels Street in Worcester. Production is in full swing, so order some ice cream today for home delivery or pickup.
